The Virgin Of Rooty Hill is a book of amusing stories from inside Clubland and the inner circles of newspaper publishing in Australia.

It was launched by John Bryson QC, former NSW Appeals Court Judge, on Thursday November 16, 2017 at Gleebooks and at a second launch the following day by Tarquin de la Force at the Union University & Schools Club, Sydney.

The book reveals the drama of Kerry Packer’s Irish Linen sheets, delves into the Mystery of the Club Trousers, tells about Luciano Pavarotti’s encounter with a virgin from Rooty Hill, and relates other in-club and classic Media stories.

But who is the Lounge Lizard? And who "The Courtier"?

"The Lounge Lizard" is a former investigative journalist based in Sydney and London, while "A Courtier" is a well-known Australian artist.

It is not through modesty that the author and illustrator are hiding behind by their chosen pseudonyms. Both are Members of an exclusive Sydney Club that has traditionally preferred to stay out of the limelight. As loyal members of their club, they have decided to adhere to that tradition.
